Dirty Heads
Formed in 2001 in Huntington Beach, California, Dirty Heads emerged from the Southern California scene by blending reggae rock, alternative hip-hop, pop and touches of melodic punk. The group is built around the vocals of Jared Watson and Dustin "Duddy B" Bushnell, with songwriting that alternates between singing, rap and brighter choruses, often supported by supple guitars and rhythms drawn from dub and American rock. After several mixtapes and an initial foothold on the independent scene, Dirty Heads released Any Port in a Storm in 2008, followed by Cabin by the Sea in 2012 and Sound of Change in 2014, which confirmed a more direct, radio-friendly approach without abandoning their reggae roots. They continued this evolution with Dirty Heads (2016), Swim Team (2017), Super Moon (2019) and Midnight Control (2022). Over the years the band has also collaborated with artists from the reggae, rock and hip-hop worlds while remaining connected to the American alternative circuit. The track "Vacation" from Swim Team regained wide visibility in 2021 via social media, exposing Dirty Heads to a broader audience beyond their original core.
