Firewind
Originating in Thessaloniki around guitarist Gus G., Firewind began as a demo project with Nocturnal Symphony in 1998 before becoming a full band in the early 2000s. In the realms of power metal and melodic heavy metal, Firewind developed a sound built on fast riffs, clear choruses and a strong emphasis on lead guitars, with songwriting that stayed close to European metal traditions. After Between Heaven and Hell (2002), Firewind followed with Burning Earth (2003), Forged by Fire (2005) and Allegiance (2006) — a period in which the band consolidated its stage presence despite several changes of vocalist and drummer. Firewind then toured with acts such as DragonForce, Kamelot, Arch Enemy and Stratovarius, while Gus G. increased his visibility through his work with Ozzy Osbourne. The band continued with The Premonition (2008), Days of Defiance (2010) and Few Against Many (2012), and later returned with Immortals (2017), Firewind (2020) and Stand United (2024). Over the years Firewind has been organized around a stable core led by Gus G., with bassist Petros Christo present since 2003 and drummer Johan Nunez since 2011.
