Fanny J
Cayenne, French Guiana, is the starting point of Fanny J’s career. A singer in the contemporary francophone zouk scene, she blends zouk love, R&B and Caribbean pop. Fanny J emerged in the late 2000s with sentimental tracks supported by simple melodies and vocals centred on romantic emotion, adopting an accessible aesthetic without breaking with Antillean traditions. Her debut album, Vous les hommes, was released in 2007, followed by Secrets de femme in 2009 and Mes vérités in 2012. Her trajectory unfolds between French Guiana, the Antilles and mainland France, on stages and across media networks linked to francophone Caribbean music. Over her career she has moved her songwriting and arrangements toward a pop and urban sound while retaining a zouk foundation, and has collaborated at times within the Antillean scene. Fanny J thus holds a recognizable place in the renewal of female zouk in the 2000s and 2010s, with a repertoire in French and Creole.
