Perle Lama
Born in Fort-de-France, Martinique, Perle Lama develops early a singing-oriented path, first within choirs before emerging at the end of the 1990s on the Caribbean scene. Her music lies at the crossroads of zouk, R&B, Caribbean pop and hints of reggae, with writing oriented toward sentimental melodies and supple rhythms. Perle Lama released her first album, Challenger’s, in 1999, followed by Etc in 2001, a period during which she also contributed to compilations and duets with artists from the Caribbean and Francophone scene, including Thierry Cham, Singuila, Ben-J, Warren and Jocelyne Béroard. In 2006, Misikasoleil marks a more definite step in this blend of modern zouk, soul and R&B. Her discography then includes Perle L’amazone in 2011, and Soleil la in 2022. Over the years, Perle Lama maintains a regular presence in Antillean music networks, between recordings, collaborations and stages linked to Afro-Caribbean music. Perle Lama’s repertoire remains associated with accessible zouk-pop, carried by a clear voice and a Martiniquais grounding that runs through her entire career.
