David Penn

David Penn is a Madrid‑based house producer and DJ who emerged on the Spanish club scene in the 1990s before gaining international recognition. Early involvements included projects such as Kadoc, behind the track “The Nighttrain,” and the duo Deux with “Sun Rising Up.” Over time he developed a signature centered on vocal, melodic house informed by disco, funk and soul. He founded and co‑runs the label Urbana Recordings, launched in Madrid in the early 2000s, where he has released many of his maxis and remixes while also collaborating with other European house labels. His catalogue is dominated by club‑oriented singles rather than albums, featuring numerous collaborations—particularly with British and Spanish producers—and ongoing remix work for the international house and soulful scene. Aesthetically, his productions emphasize groovy bass lines, prominent pianos, soul or gospel vocals and a dancefloor‑focused structure, ranging between classic house, funky house and, on some projects, elements closer to tech house.
