Das Lumpenpack

Born on the German poetry‑slam scene in the early 2010s, Das Lumpenpack initially developed as an acoustic duo around Max Kennel and Jonas Meyer before evolving into a full rock band. Based in the German‑speaking area, Das Lumpenpack sits at the intersection of indie rock, pop‑punk and lyrical chanson, with German lyrics that mix absurd humour, everyday narratives and social commentary. Their early recordings culminated in the album “Steil‑geh‑LP” in 2014, followed by “Die Zukunft wird groß” in 2017, where the project refined a balance between the spoken‑word writing inherited from slam and sung choruses. With “Eine herbe Enttäuschung” (2019), “emotions” (2021) and “Wach” (2023), Das Lumpenpack strengthened the rock foundation of its aesthetic while retaining a strong narrative and theatrical dimension. On stage the band performs mainly in clubs, concert halls and festivals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, moving between the independent rock circuit, cabaret events and spoken‑word gatherings, which maintains Das Lumpenpack’s dual identity as both a live band and an heir to the slam scene.
