Petter

Born in 1974 and active since the late 1990s, Petter, whose full name is Petter Alexis Askergren, is from Stockholm and raps in Swedish. His emergence as the Swedish hip-hop scene gained national visibility places him among the artists who accompanied this phase of expansion, with his first album Mitt sjätte sinne released in 1998, followed by Bananrepubliken in 1999 and Petter in 2001. Petter's music rests on rap with a clear phrasing, text-centered, driven by productions that cross classic hip-hop, pop choruses and more radio-friendly formats without leaving the Swedish-language writing behind. Over the years, Petter has alternated introspective tracks, more direct songs and collaborations with artists from rap as well as Scandinavian pop, while notably working with Norwegian producer Tommy Tee and Swedish DJ Sleepy. His discography continued with Ronin in 2004, P in 2006, God Damn It in 2007, En räddare i nöden in 2010, Början på allt in 2013, Mitt folk in 2015, Skeppsholmen in 2016, then several projects in 2018 including Lev nu, 9818 and Dö sen, before Varholmsgatan in 2020, Hälsa Stockholm in 2022 and Vart trött sen 98 in 2023. Petter has also developed his activities via his label Bananrepubliken and remains associated with a Swedish scene where rap regularly dialogues with pop songs and contemporary urban productions.
