Coez

Born in Nocera Inferiore, Campania, and formed within Rome’s rap scene, Coez — the stage name of Silvano Albanese — has built a career at the intersection of Italian hip‑hop, pop and singer‑songwriter craft. Initially active in the collectives Circolo Vizioso and later Brokenspeakers, Coez emerged as a solo artist at the end of the 2000s with Figlio di nessuno (2009), then gradually broadened his palette with Non erano fiori (2013) and Niente che non va (2015). His music moved away from confrontational rap toward more melodic formats, where sung vocals, direct choruses and intimate songwriting gained prominence without severing his urban roots. This evolution was confirmed with Faccio un casino (2017), È sempre bello (2019) and Volare (2021), albums that established a balance in Coez’s work between pop song, spoken word and melancholic rap. In 2023 Coez released Lovebars, a joint project with Frah Quintale, which continues this gentle, sentimental vein. Present both on the club circuit and on Italy’s major stages, Coez today occupies a distinctive place in contemporary Italian music, between personal songwriting and accessible pop forms.
