Wiffeney

Formed in England by school friends, Wiffeney brings together Steph Hope, Jai D, Chris Axe and Will Montague around a project where music and imagery move forward together. The group develops psychedelic pop with soulful and electronic contours, carried by supple vocals, hazy synths, and a production that remains centered on an organic sonic material. Wiffeney recorded his first EP in self-production at Rockfield Studios in Wales, and began to gain attention from radio airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music, FIP, or KEXP. On stage, Wiffeney has toured between the United Kingdom and Europe, notably alongside Parviz, and has also performed in Japan and Norway. The project's identity also rests on its visual side: the psychedelic animations shown in concert are designed in-house, prolonging the band's aesthetic without dissociating it from its music. In his tracks, Wiffeney addresses themes such as spiritual awakening, platonic friendship, and slow forms of self-destruction, with writing that favors moving atmospheres and contrasts between melodic softness and diffuse tension.
