Domenique Dumont

Led from Riga in Latvia, Domenique Dumont brings together multi‑instrumentalist and producer Arturs Liepiņš and singer‑ethnomusicologist Anete Stuce to develop an intimate electronic pop that blurs the lines between dub, ambient, synth‑pop and tropical influences. Initially released on the Parisian label Antinote, Domenique Dumont drew attention with the 2015 album «Comme ça», which already features supple rhythms, reggae‑adjacent basslines and chamber‑like melodies drenched in reverb. In 2018, «Miniatures de Auto Rhythm» pushed that fragmented songwriting further, playing with short repetitive motifs and atmospheres close to library music. The project shifted in 2020 with «People on Sunday», a soundtrack for the German silent film «Menschen am Sonntag» (1930) issued on The Leaf Label, highlighting a more cinematic, atmospheric side of Domenique Dumont. The return to Antinote with «Deux Paradis» in 2023 reaffirmed a taste for moderate tempos, luminous harmonies and discreet borrowings from samba and melancholic synth‑wave. On stage Domenique Dumont usually appears in a compact lineup, adapting the studio work into a live show aimed at the dancefloor, crossing proto‑house, retro textures and weightless vocals — seen on European festival stages such as the Trans Musicales in Rennes.
