Suzan Köcher’s Suprafon

Led in Germany by the German‑Turkish musician Suzan Köcher, Suzan Köcher’s Suprafon explores a shape‑shifting psychedelic pop that blends dream pop, krautrock, disco, 1960s references, desert Americana and film‑noir atmospheres. Köcher began writing songs as a teenager, and that intimate relationship to songwriting remains at the heart of a repertoire that moves between hazy melodies, hypnotic rhythms and a muted tension. Over the course of its trajectory, Suzan Köcher’s Suprafon has appeared on stages devoted to independent and contemporary music, including the Reeperbahn Festival, SXSW in Austin and the WDR programme Rockpalast. The project released a third album, In These Dying Times, in October 2024 on Unique Records. The record extends Suprafon’s aesthetic while giving greater emphasis to themes tied to the disorder of the present, feelings of powerlessness, personal emancipation and ways of confronting fear without relinquishing a form of escape.
