Devil Master

Formed in Philadelphia in 2015, Devil Master grew out of a shared interest in early Japanese hardcore that quickly merged with a base of black metal, deathrock and dark punk. The band developed a tense, upfront sound where abrasive guitars, hardcore-derived tempos and a gothic sensibility intersect without settling into a single register. After a self-titled demo in 2016 and Inhabit The Corpse in 2017, Devil Master compiled this early material on Manifestations in 2018, the same year they signed to Relapse Records. Their debut album, Satan Spits on Children of Light, was released in 2019, followed by Ecstasies of Never Ending Night in 2022. On stage Devil Master navigates metal, punk and hardcore networks alike, touring North America and Europe and sharing bills with Skeletonwitch, Obituary, High on Fire, Power Trip and Cult Leader. In 2024 Devil Master launched their own label, Bat Magick Records, releasing among other things the live record Vile Twisted Magick Process. Through lineup changes the band has maintained a visual and musical identity shaped by gothic imagery, black metal and punk energy.
