Celtic Thunder
Launched in Dublin in 2007 by producer Sharon Browne with musical director Phil Coulter, Celtic Thunder brings together a male ensemble with a variable lineup that performs a repertoire blending Irish traditional song, Celtic folk, pop and contemporary ballads. The group developed a format close to a musical show, alternating large choral tableaux and solo numbers, with worked staging and accessible orchestral arrangements. From the first album "Celtic Thunder" in 2008, followed the same year by "Act Two" and then "Take Me Home" in 2009 and "It's Entertainment!" in 2010, Celtic Thunder established an aesthetic centered on vocal harmonies, covers of Anglo‑Irish standards, some original songs and pieces drawn from popular culture. Across tours in Ireland, Europe and especially North America, Celtic Thunder evolved its lineup by adding new singers while retaining the identity of a collective show, positioned between staged Celtic tradition and mainstream pop.
