The Celtic Tenors

Trained in Dublin in 1999, The Celtic Tenors today bring together Matthew Gilsenan, James Nelson and Daryl Simpson, who joined in 2006 after Niall Morris’s departure. The trio is part of the classical crossover register, blending lyrical singing, tenor harmonies, traditional Irish repertoire and pop covers arranged in an accessible aesthetic, between classical concert and orchestrated variety. The Celtic Tenors first made themselves heard with a self-titled debut album released in 2000, followed by So Strong in 2002, The Irish Album in 2003, We Are Not Islands in 2005, Remember Me in 2006, Hard Times in 2008, Feels Like Home in 2011, Christmas in 2013, Timeless in 2015 and An Irish Songbook in 2019. Their journey has taken them to concert stages in Ireland and internationally, in a format centered on vocal work, balancing solo interpretation and ensemble singing, and a repertoire that can bring together classical airs, Irish folk songs, standards and musical theatre titles. The Celtic Tenors thus extend an Irish vocal tradition reworked for a broad audience, with an identity built on the clarity of timbres, trio arrangements, and the movement between several registers.
