Peter A.G.

Active on the Danish scene since the 1970s, Peter A.G. Nielsen has built a career closely tied to the rock band Gnags, for which he is the singer and principal songwriter. With Gnags he occupies a pop-rock register sung in Danish, marked by reggae, funk and occasional new wave inflections, which have secured his lasting presence in the musical landscape of Aarhus and Denmark more broadly. Over time Peter A.G. has developed a solo strand in which he explores a more intimate format, close to the singer-songwriter tradition, favoring spare arrangements and very articulated diction that sits between singing and storytelling. His lyrics, central to his writing, blend everyday observation, ironic portraits and social themes while remaining accessible. Alongside his work with Gnags he collaborates with other Danish musicians, contributes as a lyricist and participates in various stage and media projects.
