Peat and Diesel

Born in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, Peat and Diesel bring together Calum “Boydie” MacLeod, Innes Scott and Uilly Macleod in a trio where guitar, accordion, drums and vocals merge Scottish folk and Celtic punk in a direct, celebratory and rough‑edged style. The band formed in 2018 out of Saturday sessions among friends and quickly broadened its audience through social media and a stage presence that spans folk circuits and Scottish festivals. Their songs focus on island life, often with humour rooted in the everyday reality of the Hebrides, sung in English with a few Gaelic expressions. Their discography includes the studio albums Uptown Fank (2019) and Light My Byre (2020), followed by the live release Live at the Barrowlands 2020, issued in 2021. Within the Scottish music scene, Peat and Diesel occupy a distinctive space between popular tradition, rock energy and local culture, with an intentionally simple, percussive sound driven by the collective.
