Marisela

Born in Los Angeles to Mexican parents, Marisela emerged from the mid-1980s in the realm of Latin pop and romantic ballads sung in Spanish, with a direct, melodic delivery. She debuted in 1984 with Sin Él, an album produced by Marco Antonio Solís, who also wrote several tracks from that early period, including the duet "La Pareja Ideal." She followed with Completamente tuya in 1985 and Porque tengo ganas in 1986, where her repertoire combined sentimental songs, pop tempos, and arrangements close to the popular Latin music of the time. In the late 1980s and early 1990s Marisela continued in this vein with the albums Marisela (1989) and Hablemos claro (1990), while performing across Latino stages in the United States and Mexico. Her discography later expanded into other formats, notably banda on Marisela con la Banda La Escamilla (1993), and bolero with Historia de un amor: Boleros con trío (2000). She also recorded La otra in 2002 and continued touring for Spanish-speaking audiences in the U.S., Mexico and more broadly throughout Latin America.
