Karina

Active on the Latin American scene since the mid-1980s, Karina is a Venezuelan pop singer born in Lima (Peru) and raised from a young age in Caracas, where her vocal training developed. She first appeared in contests and variety shows before recording her debut album Amor a millón in 1985, followed by Sin máscara in 1987 and Desde mi sueño in 1992, which established Karina in a repertoire of Latin pop and rock ballads with direct melodies and sentimental lyrics. Her music blends arrangements marked by 1980s pop, touches of Spanish-language rock and piano ballads, with a central emphasis on the voice and chorused refrains. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Karina alternated studio recordings, tours in Latin America and the United States, appearances in musical shows and television projects connected to popular song. More recently, the artist remains active on stage and involved in collective initiatives such as Venezuela es Mujer, which highlight Venezuelan female creativity and bring Karina’s repertoire to new generations of audiences.
