Fury In The Slaughterhouse

Founded in 1987 in Hanover, Germany, Fury in the Slaughterhouse brings together brothers Kai and Thorsten Wingenfelder, drummer Rainer Schumann, guitarist Christof Stein‑Schneider and bassist Hannes Schäfer, who was later replaced by Christian Decker. The band first made its mark on the German-language rock scene with guitar-driven alternative and pop rock, straightforward melodies and English vocals, in a vein influenced by American college rock and British pop. The early albums Fury in the Slaughterhouse (1988), Jau! (1990), Hook a Hey (1991) and Mono (1992) established this sound before the band moved toward more polished productions with The Hearing and the Sense of Balance (1995) and Brilliant Thieves (1997). They toured extensively across Germany and Europe, alternating between clubs, larger venues and festivals, and developed a repertoire that combined energetic songs with slower, often introspective or socially themed pieces. After a hiatus announced in the late 2000s, Fury in the Slaughterhouse returned for occasional concerts and resumed studio activity with the album NOW in 2021, continuing a trajectory rooted in the German rock landscape while remaining primarily anglophone.
