Niels Skousen
Born in Cologne in 1944 and established within the Danish cultural scene, Niels Skousen has been working since the 1960s as a singer, guitarist and singer‑songwriter linked to Danish rock, with a songwriting approach strongly focused on lyrics. After periods with Young Flowers and Pan, he made his mark in the early 1970s as part of the duo Skousen & Ingemann; their album Herfra hvor vi står was released in 1971. He then embarked on a solo career with Jeg vender mig i sengen (1973), Palads af glas (1976) and Landet rundt (1980). His repertoire, sung in Danish, mixes rock, folk rock and ballad, with arrangements alternating between acoustic formats and electric band, in a restrained aesthetic where storytelling and social observation are central. Associated with the Danish counter‑culture of that period, Niels Skousen also worked in theatre, notably with Studenterscenen, Secret Service and Solvognen. After a long recording hiatus he returned with Dobbeltsyn in 2002, followed by Daddy Longleg (2006), Lyt til din coach (2010), Smil eller dø (2014), Hvem er du som kommer imod mig (2016), Døgnet Har 24 Timer (2019) and Blæsten og Regnen (2022).
