Dengue Dengue Dengue!

Born in Lima in 2010 around Rafael Pereira and Felipe Salmon, Dengue Dengue Dengue! forged a musical language where Peruvian cumbia, Amazonian rhythms and club electronics intersect with psychedelic textures, dub, dancehall and, at times, Afro-Peruvian influences. First noticed with the album La alianza profana in 2012, the duo refined this approach on the EP Serpiente dorada in 2014 and on Siete raíces in 2016, expanding their palette to include other rhythmic currents from Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. Dengue Dengue Dengue! also developed a strong stage identity, often associated with masks and a live visual practice, notably with VJ Sixta. Over the years the project moved from Peruvian venues to festivals and tours across the Americas, Europe and Asia, including an appearance at Sónar in 2014. On Son de los diablos (2018) and Zenit & Nadir (2019) they deepened their connection to Afro-Peruvian traditions, notably working with the Ballumbrosio family, before exploring more minimal and polyrhythmic constructions on Fiebre (2020).
