Saintseneca

Born in Columbus, Ohio, around singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zac Little, Saintseneca took shape in the late 2000s after Little wrote his first songs in rural Noble County in the Appalachians. The project began in an independent folk-rock vein but quickly broadened its palette with dense acoustic instrumentation, where banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, balalaika and bağlama intersect with electric guitar, keyboards and percussion for a sound that is at once wooded, taut and melodic. After the EPs Saintseneca (2009) and Grey Flag (2010), Saintseneca issued its debut album Last in 2011, followed by a reshuffling of its musical entourage. The band then signed to ANTI- and recorded Dark Arc, released in 2014, with producer Mike Mogis — a step that heightened the tension between folk-based songwriting, indie-rock dynamics and more expansive arrangements. Saintseneca continued with Such Things in 2015, the EP The Mallwalker in 2016, and Pillar of Na in 2018, on which Zac Little’s writing took a more fragmented, introspective turn. Remaining centered on an evolving collective around its founder, Saintseneca returned to the road in the early 2020s and added Highwalllow & Supermoon Songs to its discography in 2025.
