Eidola
Formed in Utah in the early 2010s, Eidola established itself on the North American post-hardcore scene by blending progressive structures, atmospheric passages, and an alternation of melodic singing and screamed vocals. Centered around Andrew Wells’s vocals and guitar, the band crafts a sound at the crossroads of progressive rock, post-rock, and math rock influences, with a marked penchant for narrative concepts and thematic cycles from one record to the next. After a self-released debut album, “The Great Glass Elephant” (2012), Eidola joined the California label Blue Swan Records, which released “Degeneraterra” (2015) and then “To Speak, To Listen” (2017), asserting a dense songwriting approach built on tempo shifts and recurring motifs. With “The Architect” (2021), Eidola continued down this path, pushing the contrasts between heavier sections and airier arrangements even further. Frequently on tour in the United States, often alongside other bands from the Blue Swan roster, Eidola has, over the years, solidified an identity centered on rhythmic virtuosity, meticulously layered vocal harmonies, and a conceptual dimension that binds lyrics and compositions.
