The Rock Orchestra
Born in the United Kingdom, The Rock Orchestra develops a stage format focused on orchestral reinterpretations of rock and heavy metal songs, blending classical strings with drums and guitars and producing a sound denser than that of a traditional symphony ensemble. The project emerged in the early 2020s under the initiative of Nathan Reed, presented as the show's creator, as a continuation of the Festival of the Dead event universe after large gatherings were halted during the lockdowns. The Rock Orchestra first attracted attention with its “by candlelight” performances, staged in a dark, theatrical setting with costumes drawn from macabre imagery, masks and large-scale visual elements. On stage, The Rock Orchestra operates as a collective ensemble rather than a fixed band highlighted up front, with a repertoire built on arrangements of rock and metal classics. The project toured the UK and subsequently the United States, establishing a hybrid format that sits between a rock concert, orchestral interpretation and immersive spectacle.
