Youth Code

Formed in Los Angeles in the early 2010s, Youth Code brings together vocalist Sara Taylor and musician Ryan George around a direct, abrasive take on EBM and industrial music. The duo continues the West Coast punk and hardcore tradition, translating its tension and DIY codes into a world of rigid electronic sequences, abrasive textures and shouted vocals. Youth Code quickly emerged on the Dais Records label with a self‑titled debut in 2013, then refined their approach on Commitment to Complications (2016), where song structures became denser while retaining a frontal, repetitive drive. Between those releases, several EPs saw the band move between industrial influences, synth‑punk and touches of noise, favoring short formats suited to intensive touring on alternative stages across North America and Europe. Their collaboration with producer King Yosef resulted in the 2021 joint album A Skeleton Key in the Doors of Depression, which further accentuates the dark, percussive side of their writing and strengthens the duo’s ties to metal, hardcore and experimental spheres.
