Ladilla Rusa

A pop project born in the outskirts of Barcelona, Ladilla Rusa brings together journalists Tania Lozano and Víctor F. Clares as a duo that subverts Spanish popular culture through a blend of electropop, techno-rumba and urban pop. Formed in 2017, Ladilla Rusa first made a mark online with tracks like “Macaulay Culkin,” where blunt humour and television references intersect with a clear taste for costumbrismo and suburban tales. The lyrics, written in Spanish with some forays into Catalan, draw on everyday speech, nights out and the social codes of the working classes, while playing with queer imaginaries. On stage the project keeps a performative, theatrical dimension, balancing simple choreography with direct audience participation. Ladilla Rusa then shaped its trajectory around two albums — Estado del malestar (2019) and Costumbrismo mágico (2021) — which consolidate this hybrid aesthetic, where festive rhythms, immediate hooks and satire of daily life form the through-line of the duo’s discography.
