Bleak Squad

Formed in Melbourne, Bleak Squad brings together Adalita Srsen, Mick Harvey, Mick Turner and Marty Brown in a quartet born from sessions started in 2019 and developed over several years before officially taking shape in 2025. The project sits in an indie rock landscape with art rock and noir rock tones, with shared writing, guitars often tense or hushed, a sober rhythmic playing and alternating vocals between Adalita and Mick Harvey. The members' backgrounds, including stints with Magic Dirt, Dirty Three, Mess Esque, Art of Fighting, The Birthday Party, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, or Mick Harvey's collaborations with PJ Harvey, feed a music that favors tension, slow melody and a shaded atmosphere over showy effect. In May 2025, Bleak Squad signs with the track "Everything Must Change", then releases the singles "Lost My Head" and "Strange Love" before the album Strange Love in 2025 on Poison City Records. In 2026, Bleak Squad extends this first step with the single "Black & White", accompanied by "A Suitcase in Berlin", two tracks from the same sessions. On stage, Bleak Squad has played notably in Victoria, Sydney, Melbourne and the Unconformity festival in Tasmania.
