SPORE

Born from a challenge issued by streamer Ponce at ZEvent 2021, Spore brings together five musicians — Louise, Tristan, Matteo, Léo and Aurélien — around a first track titled “Floral,” conceived as a blend of Carpenter Brut’s synth-wave, Mars Red Sky’s stoner rock and De Staat’s alternative rock. From that collective experiment came, at the end of 2023, the decision to formalize the project into a full band: Spore became a French quintet split between Paris and Montpellier, developing an independent pop sound with a strong rock component. Spore’s songs rely on electric guitars and repetitive rhythms, supported by synthetic keyboards whose tones occasionally recall the French Touch, shaping a melodic yet purposeful sound. The band writes and records between Paris and Montpellier in a home-studio setup, embracing a do-it-yourself ethos that informs both the sonic aesthetic and the project’s organization. On stage, Spore translates this hybrid songwriting into a direct, energetic performance, where the pop foundation serves as an entry point into a world more heavily marked by rock and electronic textures.
