The Ten Tenors
An Australian vocal collective formed in Brisbane in the mid-1990s, The Ten Tenors brings together a shifting lineup of ten singers who craft a repertoire at the crossroads of classical, pop, and music hall. Mostly classically trained, the members of The Ten Tenors apply their tenor technique to orchestrated arrangements of pop standards, opera themes, musical theatre numbers, and traditional songs, in a classical crossover vein. The group first made a name for itself on Australian stages before stepping up tours across Europe and North America in the 2000s, performing in theatres and at festivals, and occasionally collaborating with symphony orchestras. The Ten Tenors’ discography notably includes the album Here’s to the Heroes (2006), followed by On Broadway (2014), focused on renditions of New York stage classics, as well as several projects devoted to Christmas songs and major popular ballads. Through various lineup changes, The Ten Tenors has maintained its identity as a chorus of tenors dedicated to covering and reinterpreting diverse repertoires, straddling international pop culture and classical vocal heritage.
