Yvan Cassar

After training in Brittany and at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris, Yvan Cassar began in the 1990s a career as a pianist, arranger and musical director that blends classical music, chanson and pop. A long-time collaborator of Johnny Hallyday on stage and in the studio, Cassar has also worked with artists such as Mylène Farmer, Claude Nougaro, Roberto Alagna, Emmanuel Krivine and Michel Plasson, adapting diverse repertoires for symphony orchestra, choirs and smaller ensembles. His writing combines orchestral language, lyrical influences and elements of popular music, often within projects centered on reworking existing catalogues. In addition to his work as musical director for tours and audiovisual recordings, he has released several albums under his own name, including the 2015 album "Cassar", and recordings devoted to Johnny Hallyday’s universe with orchestra. He performs regularly in France and abroad, notably in opera and major concert halls, where he conducts orchestras while continuing to arrange and produce projects that mix voice, piano and expanded classical formations.
