Nicoletta
Born Nicole Grisoni in Haute-Savoie in 1944, Nicoletta emerged in the mid-1960s French song scene with a powerful voice that bridged variety, rhythm and blues, soul and gospel. After beginnings in cabarets she settled in Paris and recorded her first tracks in the yé‑yé context, but her approach—more firmly rooted in African-American vocal traditions—quickly set her apart. Songs such as L’Homme à la moto, Il est mort le soleil and Mamy Blue define this early period and outline a repertoire where French popular song intersects with blues, orchestral pop and gospel inflections. Over the decades Nicoletta has continued her career with recordings, tours, variety shows and music‑hall performances, while regularly returning to spiritual and soul material. She has also occasionally worked as an actress, in a career marked by a frontal style of interpretation, a deep timbre and direct diction.
