Roberto Alagna
Roberto Alagna is a Franco-Italian tenor recognized as one of the foremost operatic voices of his generation. Born in Clichy-sous-Bois into a Sicilian family, he discovered opera at a very young age and trained himself before winning the Pavarotti competition in Philadelphia, an achievement that launched his international career. Brought to prominence in the 1990s by his passionate performances in Roméo et Juliette, Carmen, La Bohème and Don Carlos, he established himself on the world’s leading stages — from La Scala in Milan to the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Opéra de Paris. Endowed with a voice that is both powerful and luminous, Alagna captivates through his expressiveness and his humane approach to the characters he embodies. A curious and eclectic artist, he also explores popular repertoire, from bel canto to the French chanson, without ever sacrificing his classical discipline. His charisma and generosity on stage make him an indispensable figure in the opera world, admired as much for his virtuosity as for his authenticity.
