Benedikt Frey

Based in Berlin, Benedikt Frey has spent more than a decade forging a path at the intersection of composition, arrangement, live performance and DJing within independent electronic scenes. His work moves between house, techno, ambient, downbeat, experimental dub and jungle, with a flexible approach to tempo and a strong emphasis on textures, atmospheres and open forms. Benedikt Frey has also played in the bands INIT and Dolphins, following a period with the project Keys, and some of his productions have been released under the aliases Suedmilch and Venedikt Reyf, which lean more directly toward house. Founder of the labels R.i.O. and Serious Trouble, he divides his time between studio work, concerts and DJ sets in clubs, festivals and more intimate contexts. From one project to another he alternates dance-oriented music, more introspective pieces and electronic explorations that retain elements of improvisation and stylistic movement.
