Nawel Ben Kraîem
Born in Tunisia in 1988 and settled in Paris during her adolescence, Nawel Ben Kraïem has developed a Franco‑Tunisian trajectory at the crossroads of chanson, pop, folk and Mediterranean influences. She began with the band Cirrus, formed after her arrival in France, with whom she released the album Mama Please in 2009, before embarking on a solo career in the early 2010s. After touring with Orange Blossom in 2010, Nawel Ben Kraïem returned to Tunisia in the post‑revolutionary context and joined the alternative collective Enti Essout — a phase that further anchored her work in the exchanges between the French and Tunisian scenes. She self‑produced the EP Nawel in 2013, then released Navigue in 2016, followed by the albums Par mon nom in 2018, Délivrance in 2020 and Je chante un secret in 2022. Alongside her recordings, Nawel Ben Kraïem also works as an actress and as a composer for visual media, with film appearances notably in Tony Gatlif’s Indignados (2012), as well as work for theatre and writing.
