Planning For Burial
Behind Planning For Burial is Thom Wasluck, a musician from Matawan, New Jersey, now based in Wilkes‑Barre, Pennsylvania, who has been developing a solo project since 2005 in which he records and performs all the parts himself. Planning For Burial operates at the margins of shoegaze, post‑metal, ambient and gothic rock, producing slow, hazy and saturated tracks threaded with drone textures, doom inflections and a sensibility close to slowcore and 1990s indie rock. After beginnings marked by home recordings, Thom Wasluck released the album Leaving in 2009 (reissued in 2010), then Quietly in 2013 and Desideratum in 2014, releases that increased Planning For Burial’s visibility within the American underground scenes tied to heavy, experimental and introspective music. The discography continued with Below the House in 2017 and It’s Closeness, It’s Easy in 2025, alongside numerous EPs, splits and more low‑profile releases. On stage, Planning For Burial has shared bills with acts such as Chelsea Wolfe, Have a Nice Life and Deafheaven, in a register where metal’s sonic density meets more melodic and melancholic songwriting.
