Brass Rave Unit

Brass Rave Unit develops, as a trio with Dirk, Ko and Bo, a format in which the energy of electronic music is conveyed entirely through live playing. In their case, acid house, trance and techno are reworked without foregrounding programming, relying on brass instruments, rhythms played live and a very physical flow of sound—between repetitive motifs, tension buildups and a rave pulse. The project is rooted in a Dutch context, with notable appearances at Tolhuistuin, at Paradiso where Brass Rave Unit celebrated its ten-year anniversary, and at the Best Kept Secret festival announced for 2025. Their trajectory also gained an international dimension starting with Glastonbury in 2019, and in very different settings up to New York subway stations. Brass Rave Unit thus pursues a hybrid form, both brass band and club performance, where the codes of electronic partying are shifted toward an organic, mobile and collective execution.
