Night Swimming
Formed in Bath, Somerset, Night Swimming operates in a dream-pop register that also draws on shoegaze and a kind of electronic melancholy inherited from the Bristol scene. The band builds its songs around hazy melodies, diffuse guitars and restrained rhythms, striking a balance between muted tension and pop clarity. Night Swimming first developed their live presence in their hometown before gradually expanding across the UK. After roughly a year of gigging, they headlined the Komedia in Bath and shared bills with Sad Night Dynamite. In 2022 the group also appeared on the Glastonbury Festival longlist, after being spotted by the Close Encounters Club. Night Swimming’s identity sits at the crossroads of recognisably British influences—between dreamy beds of sound, melodic songwriting and deliberately stripped-back production—without tipping into a purely retro aesthetic. The band therefore belongs to an English independent scene attentive to textures, space and song formats.
