The Sewing Club
Launched in 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee, The Sewing Club brings together Hannah McElroy on vocals and guitar, Stephen Meaux on guitar and bass, Justin McKinney on guitar, and Zach McCoy on drums and vocals. The band formed in a DIY setting, between basements and rehearsals at friends’ houses, before taking the local indie rock scene by storm. The Sewing Club develops a sound situated between alternative rock, melodic grunge, and abrasive pop, with dense guitars, straight-ahead vocal lines, and writing that favors simple tensions over effects. Over the course of its shows, The Sewing Club has toured the United States as a supporting act for bands like Arlie and Chokecherry, and has also shared the bill with Protomartyr, Soccer Mommy, Otoboke Beaver, Horse Jumper of Love, Deeper, Lowertown or fanclubwallet, while appearing at SXSW. On the discography side, the band released the EP Care in 2024, recorded and mixed with Calvin Lauber, Alex Farrar and Henry Stoehr. This first release lays the groundwork for an aesthetic that is both tense and catchy, rooted in the energy of contemporary American indie rock.
