Brian Ennals

Born in Annapolis, Maryland, raised in Severn and settled in Baltimore, Brian Ennals has since the early 2010s developed a rap anchored on the American East Coast, with a direct, political and often satirical writing, carried by productions that cross alternative hip-hop, abrasive spoken word and experimental textures. Brian Ennals first published solo Untitled in 2010 then Candy Cigarettes in 2013, before narrowing his path around his work with Infinity Knives, the musician and producer Tariq Ravelomanana. Their collaboration took shape on Dear, Sudan by Infinity Knives in 2020, then as a full duo with Rhino XXL in 2020 and King Cobra in 2022. In this frame, Brian Ennals evolves on a line where the frontal rap meets more unstable arrangements, between sound collage, post-industrial tension and references to rap art without locking himself in it. The Baltimore scene remains an important anchor in his career, both through its environment and through the way his lyrics address social relations, violence, work and the everyday contradictions. Brian Ennals continues this collaboration with Infinity Knives on A City Drowned in God’s Black Tears, released in 2025.
