Himra

Active on the Ivorian rap scene, Himra has developed an aesthetic shaped by drill, the streets of Abidjan and a direct relation to the daily lives of young people in working-class neighborhoods. Driven by lyrics focused on hustle, social ascent and the tensions of urban life, Himra alternates technical verses with melodic hooks over dark productions in which rhythm remains foregrounded. Releasing multiple projects since the late 2010s, including a series of mixtapes, the artist has gradually built a dense catalogue that first circulated across francophone West Africa before finding a wider audience on streaming platforms. The album “Jeune et Riche,” released in 2024, marks an important milestone in this trajectory, with tracks like “Yorobo Drill Acte 3,” “Vêtements” and “Banger” positioning Himra in a drill register tinged with afro-rap and fast hooks. In 2025, the project “DACHIBA KOUMGBA TCHAIBA” continues that direction, tightening the format to around ten tracks and further blending raw energy, sung passages and portrayals of everyday realities. Present both in streaming and on stage, notably between the Ivory Coast and France, Himra frames his rap as a constant back-and-forth between Abidjan and the diaspora, embracing a vocabulary, references and an attitude firmly rooted in his place of origin.
