Elastinen

Born in Helsinki under the name Kimmo Laiho, Elastinen has established himself in Finnish rap since the late 1990s, first with the duo Fintelligens founded in 1997 with Iso H, then as a solo artist. Rooted in hip-hop culture in its broad sense, with a path that also includes dance and break, he develops a direct writing style and a Finnish rap anchored in clear, melodic and rhythmic productions, at the crossroads of classic hip-hop, pop-rap and more radio-friendly formats. In parallel with his artistic activity, Elastinen is one of the founders of the independent label Rähinä Records, an important structure of the Finnish rap scene. His solo discography begins with Elaksis Kivi in 2004, followed by Anna soida in 2006, E.L.A. in 2007, Joka päivä koko päivä in 2013, Elastinen Feat. in 2016, and EK2 in 2024. Over the years, Elastinen alternates between personal projects, collaborations and collective formats, notably with Profeetat alongside Cheek. His career shows an evolution from group rap to a more open formula, where sung choruses, collaborative tracks and broader production sit alongside a lasting grounding in Finnish hip-hop.
