Makèz

Based in Amsterdam, Makèz has developed for more than fifteen years a collaborative electronic writing born of a shared passion for house discovered in adolescence. The project operates in a space where club grooves intersect with a song‑oriented format, producing music that draws as much from underground house as from the textures of hip‑hop, jazz and disco. At Makèz, the influences of producers and groups such as Slum Village, Masters at Work, Moodymann or Theo Parrish are expressed less as quotations than as an attention to detail, rhythmic depth and subtle arrangement nuances. After settling in Amsterdam the duo became part of the local nightlife before gradually extending their reach to other international scenes. Makèz’s discography includes releases on Heist, No Art, Balance Recordings and Classic Music Company—milestones of a career built over time. In 2023 Makèz also gained visibility with 'Downstream', a track made with Life on Planets, which accompanied a new phase in the circulation of their music on dancefloors.
