D Stone

Active on Amsterdam’s electronic scene, D Stone has developed a house approach shaped by a musical path that began very early: piano in childhood, guitar in early adolescence, then the discovery of DJing and production around 15–16 years old. Raised in a music-oriented family environment, D Stone has crafted a sound that links house, proto-disco, garage and deeper percussive elements, with significant space given to samples and played instruments. His references draw as much from 1970s and 1980s disco and funk as from 1990s tech house, without aiming for a vintage reconstitution: for D Stone, these influences mainly serve to create tracks centered on groove, rhythmic lines and a direct, danceable tension. As both DJ and producer, he operates in a club register where the warmth of organic textures dialogues with a sober and effective electronic construction. This intersection of house culture, rhythmic sensibility and instrumental heritage places D Stone among a current wave of producers for whom dance music remains tied to strongly musical songwriting.
