BOLD

Formed in 2021 on Chinese Man Records, BOLD brings together High Ku, a member of Chinese Man, and Supa-Jay from Scratch Bandits Crew. The project situates itself at the intersection of instrumental hip-hop, trip-hop and electronic music, with writing that combines a taste for vintage samples, pronounced melodic work and more contemporary rhythms. BOLD thus extends two careers already rooted in hip-hop and turntablism scenes, while shifting their approach toward a format focused on composition, textures and atmospheres. On BOLD, their self-titled debut album released in 2022, the duo combines an old-school aesthetic, trip-hop moods and more recent contributions from trap and electro. Between a sense of loop, the progressive construction of tracks and a search for balance between rhythmic impact and sonic depth, BOLD develops a concise instrumental language, dark in places but always coherent in its structure.
