Jann Arden

Born in 1962 in Calgary, Alberta, Jann Arden established herself in the early 1990s on the Canadian pop and folk scene with songwriting centered on intimate narratives and human relationships. After several years performing in bars and small venues across western Canada, she released her debut album, Time for Mercy, in 1993 and reached a wide audience with Living Under June in 1994, where her taste for melodic pop and slow ballads became clear. Over subsequent records — including Happy? (1997), Blood Red Cherry (2000), Jann Arden (2005), the cover albums Uncover Me (2007, 2011) as well as Free (2009) and Everything Almost (2014) — Arden developed a style blending adult pop, folk influences and light country touches, anchored by her voice and piano. Alongside regular tours in Canada and abroad, she expanded her work as an author and columnist and later appeared in film and television, notably in the series JANN launched in 2019, which extends the personal themes present in her songs into fiction.
