Chantal Kreviazuk

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Chantal Kreviazuk made her mark from the mid-1990s with adult pop songwriting centered on the piano, ranging from ballad to melodic pop-rock and adult contemporary. She released her debut album, Under These Rocks and Stones, in 1996 and moved toward a more radio-friendly format with Colour Moving and Still in 1999 and What If It All Means Something in 2002, where her clear voice and keyboard-focused arrangements became more pronounced. Her cover of “Leaving on a Jet Plane” on the Armageddon soundtrack in 1998, along with recordings such as “Feels Like Home” for Dawson’s Creek and “In My Life” for the series Providence, also placed her work within film and television. Alongside her solo career, Kreviazuk developed a songwriting career for other artists, often collaborating with Raine Maida, notably for Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera and Drake. The rest of her discography, from Ghost Stories (2006) to Plain Jane (2009), Hard Sail (2016) and Get to You (2020), demonstrates continuity in an introspective, direct and melodic pop vein, on the borderline between singer-songwriter material and mainstream pop.
