K3
Formed in Belgium at the end of the 1990s, K3 develops a Dutch-language pop repertoire aimed at a young audience, with simple refrains, danceable arrangements and an aesthetic closely tied to family entertainment. The trio’s name comes from its original members, Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke and Kathleen Aerts, who came together in 1998 before their first success with «Heyah mama» in 1999, followed by songs such as «Alle kleuren», «Tele-Romeo» or «Oya lélé». Brought under Studio 100’s wing from 2002, K3 quickly expanded its activities to television, musicals and cinema, while maintaining a regular on-stage presence in Belgium and the Netherlands. The group has seen several lineup changes, with the arrival of Josje Huisman in 2009, then Hanne Verbruggen, Marthe De Pillecyn and Klaasje Meijer in 2015 after the show K3 zoekt K3. Since 2021, K3 brings together Hanne Verbruggen, Marthe De Pillecyn and Julia Boschman. Among the verified albums are Alle kleuren (2000), Tele-Romeo (2001), Verliefd (2002), Oya lélé (2003), MaMaSé! (2009), 10.000 luchtballonnen (2015), Ushuaia (2016), Dromen (2019), Waterval (2021), Vleugels (2022) and Het lied van de zeemeermin (2024). K3’s universe remains marked by colorful, melodic and theatrical pop, at the crossroads of children’s songs, Dutch-language pop and musical theatre.
