Soundwalk Collective

Founded in 2001 by Stephan Crasneanscki, joined in 2008 by Simone Merli, Soundwalk Collective operates between Berlin and New York in a field located at the crossroads of experimental music, sound art, and installation. Soundwalk Collective's work draws on field recordings, acoustic environments, and a narrative approach tied to places, with pieces that circulate as much in concert halls as in museums, festivals, and exhibition spaces. Their journey has been built in regular dialogue with cinema, contemporary dance, poetry, and the visual arts, through collaborations with Patti Smith, Jean-Luc Godard, Philip Glass, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Nan Goldin, or Mulatu Astatke. In their discography, notable entries include Berghain: Surface Vibration & Resonances (2013), Killer Road (2016), Death Must Die (2018), Mummer Love (2019), Peradam (2020), Lovotic (2022), The Perfect Vision (2022), All The Beauty And The Bloodshed (2023), and Correspondences vol. 1 (2024). Soundwalk Collective develops an aesthetic made of immersive textures, spoken voices, drones, minimalist compositions, and documentary montages, with constant attention given to the memory of places and to the political, social, or anthropological dimensions of sound.
