Helicon

Psychedelic band formed in Glasgow, Scotland, Helicon develops a hypnotic rock that blends space rock, shoegaze and Eastern influences. The group, with an expanded lineup, initially built its profile around a series of singles and EPs released on the local scene before joining the London label Fuzz Club, which has been the main outlet for Helicon’s releases since the mid‑2010s. The first full‑length album, simply titled Helicon (2017), established a sound characterized by saturated riffs, repetitive drones, melodic motifs inspired by 1960s psychedelic music and darker, post‑rock‑adjacent atmospheres. This Can Only Lead To Chaos (2020) extends this aesthetic with denser structures and a pronounced use of noisy textures and instrumental mantras. On stage Helicon favors immersive formats, with long tension builds and a loop‑based approach, placing the band within the circuit of venues and festivals dedicated to psychedelic rock in the UK and Europe while maintaining strong roots in Glasgow’s independent scene.
