Upupayāma

Behind Upupayāma is Alessio Ferrari, an Italian multi-instrumentalist and singer‑songwriter living in a mountain village above Parma. This solo project develops music that sits between psychedelic folk, ambient and pastoral rock, nourished by both Eastern and Western traditions. Upupayāma assembles guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, flute, percussion, sitar and erhu into pieces that prioritize atmosphere, repetition and melodic circulation as much as song form. With The Golden Pond, released in 2022, Upupayāma anchors his work in a very concrete setting — a small lake near his home — and draws from it a style attentive to landscape detail and shifts in listening. The next stage of his trajectory links him to the current psychedelic scene, notably via Fuzz Club, with the release Live at Fuzz Club Festival 2025. Announced for 2026, Honesty Flowers extends this path into a broader format, ranging from percussive grooves and drones to acid folk, repetitive rhythms and harsher textures.
